Discover Mudgee’s Organic Wines

Discover Mudgee’s Organic Wines

When a winemaker says their wine is organic, they mean the grapes have been cultivated without the use of pesticides and herbicides or artificial fertilisers, which is kinder to our health and the environment.

In Mudgee, we’re lucky to have a long history of organic winemaking, starting with Australia’s first ever certified organic vineyard, Botobolar. Today, we’re seeing organic grape growing and winemaking techniques from quite a few others. Scroll down to learn more about the best organic wine in Mudgee.

LOWE Family Wines

The Lowe Cellar Door is open daily for wine tastings and regional platters and offers incredible views of Mudgee’s signature rolling hills.

If you’re a foodie and/or fan of a long lunch, you can also check out other Lowe offerings such as The Zin House and The Pavilion.

Vinifera Wines

Vinifera Wines is owned by Mudgee locals, Tony and Debbie McKendry, who in 1994 planted some of the first Tempranillo vines in Australia along with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon. Today, their vineyard has continued to mature beautifully and now stretches across 12 hectares producing limited vintages including other striking Spanish reds.

Love kicking back with a view, glass of wine and a grazing platter? Good news: The Vinifera cellar door is open five days a week with seated tasting experiences and local grazing platters.

Winemaker, Tim White, is known for his premium small batch wines and has been celebrated for his Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet varieties. While they don’t serve food at their cellar door, you’re more than welcome to bring a picnic!
