Meet Your Hosts
Hello! We’re Rick and Steph Gordon, farmers and hosts who are passionate about sharing our piece of Mudgee with you. Managing Wilgowrah means wearing many hats—tending to our cattle, maintaining the land, and making sure each guest feels welcomed and cared for. When we’re not working, we love to travel, spend time by the beach, and enjoy great food, wine, and coffee. Our goal is to make your stay at Wilgowrah relaxing, unique, and memorable—whether it’s your first visit or your fifth.

Our Vision
At Wilgowrah, our vision is simple—to share the natural beauty, tranquillity, and heritage of our 480-acre property with those seeking a truly special escape. Our stays offer spaces where you can breathe deeply, slow down, and immerse yourself in the rhythms of country life. Wilgowrah is your place to unwind, reconnect, and feel at home.
The Farm
Wilgowrah is a 480 acre working farm producing prime grass-fed beef and hay using sustainable farming practices. The property stretches from fertile alluvial creek flats to elevated country with sweeping views of the Mudgee Valley. Lawson Creek winds through the centre, its banks alive with native wildlife—kangaroos, wombats, and colourful parrots.
Heritage
The story of Wilgowrah begins in the early 1800s with explorer William Lawson, who, alongside Gregory Blaxland and William Wentworth, famously crossed the Blue Mountains. After discovering the Cudgegong River, Lawson settled in the Mudgee region, securing large tracts of land—including what is now Wilgowrah. Our homestead and church are heritage-listed, with the church built in the 1920s and lovingly restored in 2020. Each accommodation on the property pays respect to this history, blending original features with contemporary comfort.
Sustainability
We believe in leaving the land better than we found it. Our farming practices are designed to be sustainable—producing grass-fed beef, planting trees, and protecting the natural habitat for native wildlife. Across our accommodations, we minimise waste, recycle where possible, and use local trades and suppliers to support the community. From restoring heritage buildings to maintaining healthy pastures, every decision we make is with both our guests and the environment in mind.
