Discover Mudgee’s Organic Wines
Sustainably grown, beautifully crafted
When a wine is certified organic, it means the grapes are grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or artificial fertilisers—better for the environment and for you. In Mudgee, organic winemaking has deep roots. In fact, the region is home to Australia’s first certified organic vineyard, Botobolar, and today that legacy continues through a number of passionate producers.
Here’s our guide to some of Mudgee’s most celebrated organic wines.
Lowe Family Wines
Founded by David Lowe in 2000, Lowe Wines produces premium small-batch wines from certified organic and biodynamic vineyards on the historic ‘Tinja’ property. The cellar door is open daily for tastings and regional platters, with views stretching over Mudgee’s rolling hills. Food lovers can also enjoy The Zin House for long lunches or The Pavilion for relaxed dining among the vines.
Vinifera Wines
Tony and Debbie McKendry planted some of Australia’s first Tempranillo vines here in 1994, alongside Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Semillon. Today, Vinifera’s 12-hectare vineyard produces striking Spanish-style reds and elegant whites. The cellar door offers seated tastings and local grazing platters five days a week—perfect for a slow afternoon with a view.
Martins Hill Organic Wines
Established in 1985 by Michael and Louise Sweeney, Martins Hill produces preservative-free, small-batch vegan wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and more. With over 35 years of chemical-free cultivation, their wines are clean, expressive, and true to the land.
While there’s no cellar door, you can find Martins Hill wines at the Mudgee Markets, Roth’s Wine Bar, or online via Exclusively Mudgee.
10's Estate
A family-run, 100% organic certified vineyard and orchard just outside Mudgee, 10’s Estate produces small-batch wines alongside seasonal organic fruit. With a relaxed cellar door and a strong focus on sustainability and connection to the land, it’s a welcoming place to slow down and enjoy wine grown with care.
Bonus Tip
Many of these wineries require bookings for tastings—especially on weekends—so plan ahead to secure your spot. If you’re visiting multiple cellar doors, consider arranging a driver or joining a local wine tour for a relaxed day out.
